How to increase conventional memory in windows xp

How does this effect my virtual memory? This usually happens when I am playing games on Facebook. My computer will freeze up and then I will get the message that my virtual memory memory is low. If you could help me, I would greatly appreciate it. I have gotten so frustrated that I have stopped playing the games that I love, especially since these games include family and friends.

Was this reply helpful? Yes No. There is a quick solution for that, give it more RAM. Now this all depends on your system, as you need to have enough memory to run both the Host operating system Windows 7 and the Guest XP Mode so this tip might not be an option until you install additional physical RAM in the system. If you do have the additional memory to allocate, here is how you do it.

First, you need to make sure you have shutdown the Virtual Machine entirely or else the option to give it more memory will be grayed out. The whole business of "right click and get Properties" didn't work for me, no matter what file I clicked on. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. To change this, the Virtual machine should be shut down.

Thanks for your consideration. Hmm, I am getting the exact same response on this PC I am working on. A thought--since dosx is used to allow programs to use extended memory, does your program that you are working with use extended memory?

Yes, the program does use extended memory and needs the DPMI to work properly. I previously REMd dosx out and yes the conventional memory bumped up to where I needed it, but the program wouldn't work properly without the dpmi support Reply to quoted posts Clear.
