In reply to MikeAQuinn's post on August 24, A few points offered for clarification :- Language is a formatting attribute in Office documents. That default applies only to new documents created using that installation of the software. The language formatting of the text in a document travels with the document, just as does bold, italic, indentation, etc. What default settings are used by another recipient of the document have no effect on document's language formatting.
If some of the text is in Spanish, the Spanish dictionary will be used.
