Lean forward before lifting the handle, then lean back to the desired position and release the handle. Lift the handle to return the seatback to an upright position. Persons who are unable to feel pain to the skin because of advanced age, chronic illness, diabetes, spinal cord injury, medication, alcohol use, exhaus- tion or other physical condition must exercise care when using the seat heater.

It may cause burns even at low temperatures, especially if used for long periods of time. The heat output then drops to the normal high-temperature level. If high-level heating is selected, the system will automati- cally switch to the low level after about 30 minutes of continuous operation. Pull the strap forward to move the seat forward and flat. Then push the seatback to a reclined position, approximately 35 degrees maximum, and release the strap.

You can signal a lane change by moving the lever partially up or down without moving beyond the detent. This will cause the headlights to turn on at high beam and remain on until the lever is released. Page Mist Feature Washer Control Mist Feature Push down on the wiper control lever to activate a single wipe to clear the windshield of road mist or spray from a passing vehicle.

As long as the lever is held down, the wipers will continue to operate. Wiper Control Intermittent Wiper System Use the intermittent wiper when weather conditions make a single wiping cycle, with a variable pause be- tween cycles, desirable. Tilting the steering column while the vehicle is moving is dangerous. Without a stable steering col- umn, you could lose control of the vehicle and have an accident.

Adjust the column only while the ve- hicle is stopped. Be sure it is locked before driving. The system should be turned OFF when not in use. Release the lever when the desired speed is reached, and the new speed will be set.

A moving garage door can cause injury to people and pets in the path of the door. People or pets could be seriously or fatally injured. Choose one of the three Universal Transceiver buttons to program. Place the hand held controller one to three inches from the Universal Transceiver while keeping its indicator light in view. This device may not cause harmful interference. This device must accept any interference that may be received including interference that may cause undesired operation.

In the Partial ESP mode, the engine torque reduction and stability features are desensitized. Therefore, the enhanced vehicle stability offered by ESP is unavailable. Occupants, particularly unat- tended children, can become entrapped by the power sunroof while operating the power sunroof switch. Any release of the switch will stop the movement and the sunroof will remain in a partial open condition until the switch is pushed and held rearward again. This is called Express Vent, and will occur regardless of the sunroof position.

During Express Vent operation, any movement of the switch will stop the sunroof. Do not operate this vehicle with the console com- partment lid in the open position. Cell phones, music players, and other hand held electronic de- vices should be stowed while driving.

Use of these devices while driving can cause an accident due to distraction, resulting in death or injury. In an accident a cargo cover loose in the vehicle could cause injury. In a sudden stop or colli- sion a loop could pull loose and allow the child seat to come loose.

A child could be badly injured. Use only the anchors provided for child seat tethers. Power acces- sory delay can be cancelled by opening the door, if this happens the rear wiper will stop at its current position and will not go to park. Use care when washing the inside of the rear win- dow to prevent damage to heating elements.

Use a soft cloth and a mild washing solution, wiping parallel to the heating elements. This will allow cool air to enter the beverage cooler. Another storage bin is lo- cated on the outboard side of the steering wheel can hold small items like parking cards for easy access.

Page Tape Eject Fuel Gauge When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the pointer will show the level of fuel remaining in the fuel tank. Page 6. The radio is designed to recognize the file as an invalid MP3 and will not play the file. To create a single-session disc, enable the Disc at Once option before writing to the disc.

Press the INFO button once more to return to elapsed time priority mode. This service offers over channels of music, sports, news, entertainment, and programming for chil- dren, directly from its satellites and broadcasting studios. These satellite channel pre-set stations will not erase any AM or FM pre-set memory stations.

Follow the memory pre-set procedures that apply to your radio. Pressing the bottom of the switch once will go to the beginning of the current track or to the beginning of the previous track if it is within one second after the current track begins to play. This condition may be lessened or eliminated by relocating the cellular phone antenna.

This condition is not harmful to the radio. Page The controls are as follows: Fan Control Use this control to regulate the amount of air forced through the system in any mode you select. The fan speed increases as you move the control to the right from the OFF position. Mode Control Air Direction The mode control allows you to choose from several pat This setting is good for main- taining comfort while reducing moisture on the wind- shield.

A lamp will illu- minate when you are in recir- culate mode. Only use the re- circulate mode to temporarily block out any outside odors, smoke, or dust and to cool the To clear the windows, set mode to the mix or defrost position. Direct the panel outlets toward the side windows.

Page Gasoline Engines Do not attempt to push or tow your vehicle to get it started. Vehicles equipped with an automatic trans- axle cannot be started this way.

To prevent damage to the starter, do not crank the engine for more than 15 seconds at a time. Wait 10 to 15 seconds before trying again. After Starting The idle speed will automatically decrease as the engine warms up. If this occurs obtain service as soon as possible. The engine speed will remain at this high RPM while the vehicle accelerates. Page Autostick General Information ratio.

As you release the clutch pedal, lightly depress the accelera- tor pedal. Page Downshifting Downshifting Proper downshifting will improve fuel economy and prolong engine life. If you skip more than one gear while downshifting or downshift at too high a vehicle speed, you could damage the engine, transmission, or clutch. To maintain a safe speed and prolong brake life, shift down to 2nd or 1st when descending a steep grade.

NOTE: This light only shows that the parking brake is on. It does not show the degree of brake application. If the parking brake is applied while the vehicle is moving, a chime will sound to alert the driver.

A child or others could be seriously or fatally injured. A child could operate power windows, other controls, or move the vehicle. Driving a vehicle with the brake light on is danger- ous. A significant decrease in braking performance or vehicle stability during braking may occur.

ABS-inducing conditions can in- clude ice, snow, gravel, bumps, railroad tracks, loose debris, or panic stops. The system will provide mechanical steering capability if power assist is lost. If for some reason the power assist is interrupted, it will still be possible to steer your vehicle. This phenomenon occurs when there is a difference in the surface traction under the front driving wheels. Tires with white sidewalls will have the full TIN including date code located on the white sidewall side of the tire.

If your vehicle will be towing a trailer, load from your trailer will be transferred to your vehicle. Consult this manual to determine how this reduces the available cargo and luggage load capacity of your vehicle. Overloading of your tires is dangerous. Overloading can cause tire failure, affect vehicle handling, and increase your stopping distance.

Use tires of the recommended load capacity for your vehicle. Never overload them. Economy— Improper inflation pressures can cause uneven wear patterns to develop across the tire tread. These abnormal wear patterns will reduce tread life resulting in a need for earlier tire replacement. Under inflation, also increases tire rolling resistance and results in higher fuel consump- tion.

After inspecting or adjusting the tire pressure, al- ways reinstall the valve stem cap if equipped. This will prevent moisture and dirt from entering the valve stem, which could damage the valve stem. High speed driving with your vehicle under maxi- mum load is dangerous. The added strain on your tires could cause them to fail. You could have a serious accident. Page Limited Use Spare - If Equipped Do not install a wheel cover or attempt to mount a conventional tire on the compact spare wheel, since the wheel is designed specifically for the compact spare.

Because of the reduced ground clearance, do not take your vehicle through an automatic car wash with the Fast spinning tires can be dangerous. Forces gener- ated by excessive wheel speeds may cause tire dam- age or failure. A tire could explode and injure someone. Tires and spare tire should be replaced after six years, regardless of the remaining tread. Failure to follow this warning can result in sudden tire failure.

Some combina- tions of unapproved tires and wheels may change suspension dimensions and performance charac- teristics, resulting in changes to steering, han- dling, and braking of your vehicle. In this case, the display will only show approved units. Once the original road tire has been properly repaired, and put back onto the vehicle in place of the compact spare tire. Damage to the vehicle may result if tire chains are used.

More frequent rotation is permis- sible if desired. The reasons for any rapid or unusual wear should be corrected before rotating. Reformulated gasolines contain oxygenates, and are spe- cifically blended to reduce vehicle emissions and im- prove air quality.

The manufacturer supports the use of reformulated gaso- lines. Most of these products contain high concentrations of methanol. Fuel system damage or vehicle performance problems resulting from the use of such fuels or additives is not the responsibility of the manufacturer.

If the gas cap is lost or damaged, be sure the replacement cap is for use with this vehicle. This is in violation of most state and federal fire regulations and will cause the malfunction indi- cator light to turn on.

Damage to the fuel system or emission control system could result from using an improper fuel tank filler cap gas cap. A poorly fitting cap could let impurities into the fuel system. Before towing a trailer carefully re- view this information to tow your load as efficiently and safely as possible.

It is important that you do not exceed the maximum front or rear GAWR. A dangerous driving condition can result if either rating is exceeded. You could lose control of the vehicle and have an accident. Tongue Weight TW The downward force exerted on the hitch ball by the trailer. Refer to the Tire— Safety Information Section in this manual.

Page Towing Requirements must be considered as part of the total load on your vehicle. Refer to the Tire and Loading Information plac- ard in the Tire Safety Information Section of this manual for the maximum combined weight of occupants and cargo for your vehicle. Towing Requirements To promote proper break-in of your new vehicle driv- etrain components the following guidelines are recom When parking, apply the parking brake on the tow vehicle.

Put the tow vehicle automatic transmission in P for Park. With a manual transmission, shift the transmission into reverse. This could cause inadequate braking and possible personal injury. The Trailer Tow Package may include a 4 and 7 pin wiring harness. Page Towing Tips 7- Pin Connector Towing Tips Before setting out on a trip, practice turning, stopping and backing the trailer in an area away from heavy traffic.

If using a manual transmission vehicle for trailer towing, all starts must be in FIRST gear to avoid excessive clutch slippage. Depress the switch and both cluster indicators and all front and rear directional signals will flash. Depress the switch again to turn Hazard Warning Flashers off. Page Automatic Transaxle Overheating removes this heat. You can also turn the Temperature control to maximum heat, the Mode control to floor, and the fan control to High.

This allows the heater core to act as a supplement to the radiator and aids in removing heat from the engine cooling system. The vehicle could slip off the jack and fall on you. You could be crushed. Never put any part of your body under a vehicle that is on a jack. Turn OFF the ignition. Do not attempt to change a tire on the side of the vehicle close to moving traffic. Do not attempt to raise the vehicle by jacking on locations other than those indicated in step 3.

There are two front jacking locations and two rear jacking locations on each side of the body. The front locations are outlined by two triangular cutouts, the rear ones by two rectangular cutouts. To avoid possible personal injury, handle the wheel covers with care to avoid contact with any sharp edges. NOTE: The wheel cover is held on the wheel by the wheel nuts.

When reinstalling original wheel, properly align the wheel cover to the valve stem, place the wheel cover onto the wheel, then install the wheel nuts. Take care to avoid the radiator cooling fan whenever the hood is raised. It can start anytime the ignition switch is on. It was also one of the first major models to offer a CVT to transfer the power from the engines to the wheels without juddering gear changes. Underneath, the chassis shares many components with the Jeep Patriot and Compass as well as the Mitsubishi Lancer.

Each year the Dodge Caliber was on sale it went through minor changes such as making the door handles match the color of the bodywork and reducing the weight of panels such as the bonnet. To help the car appeal to a wider variety of demographics it was offered in a range of trims such as:.

Using a community of helpers we source the documents and index them into manufacturers and models so you can easily find the right one. Inside of a typical service manual, you will find instructions on the maintenance, fitting and replacement of components inside a car.

You may find these documents referred to under different names such as repair manuals, workshop manuals and even factory manuals. If you have a hard-to-find service manual then you can submit it for others to find here. This site is part of the GimmeManuals. These service manuals that you can find the PDFs for on this site are extremely useful for mechanics. You may also find these manuals useful if you DIY your car maintenance to avoid expensive repair costs.

Within the manuals, you typically find exploded diagrams of the parts in a car along with parts numbers. Many people look for the wiring diagrams and the fuse information within these working manuals too in order to fix electrical problems that may have appeared.
